Why is the stitching of my embroidery covered?

The reason there's a covering on the stitching of your embroidered product is to provide stability during the embroidery process. This covering is called embroidery backing.

The embroidery backing serves several important functions, including:

  1. Stability: It helps stabilize the fabric and prevent it from shifting or stretching during the stitching process. This ensures that the design comes out accurately and neatly.

  2. Protection: The backing acts as a protective barrier between the fabric and the stitching, helping to prevent any damage to the garment.

  3. Preventing Wrinkles and Puckering: By offering support, the backing minimizes the chances of wrinkles and puckering in the fabric, which can affect the appearance of the embroidered design.

It's important not to tear off the backing when you receive your embroidered product. Over time and after a few washes, the backing will either dissolve or become less noticeable. If you prefer, you can gently trim any excess backing with scissors for a cleaner finish.
